Our regular readers will be aware that over the years the team at Manse Capital have undertaken a number of fund raising events for good regional, national and international charities. Unfortunately due to various circumstances, the team will not be undertaking such an event this year, though we hope to be back in the groove next year. In the interim, this has not stopped one of our Directors, (whose sanity we are increasingly calling into question), to think up and commit to completing a rather arduous challenge, with a view to raising funds for his favourite charity BLESMA, (the British Limbless Ex-Servicemen’s Association),
At 4.30 am on Saturday June 8th, Karl will set out from Skipton on his 11 year old mountain bike to complete the 130 plus miles of Yorkshire Dales Cycleway. Not content with this and the 8,500 feet in climbs, he seems to think it would be a good idea to complete this challenge in 1 day, finishing in Ilkley that evening. All this despite the relevant website suggesting it would make a nice 6 day ride! Clearly his advancing years, (he is now 51), have not endowed him with more common sense or an awareness that his body is not as young and forgiving as it once was. We are increasingly of the view that his exposure to cordite and tear gas in his time in the Army may have affected his perspective of reality.
Notwithstanding our reservations, we are keen to support him in his efforts to raise funds for such a worthy cause. If you feel the same, Karl would really appreciate any support you feel able to give, as no doubt would the brave, injured service men and women for whom he is raising the money. Should you wish to support him, you can do so by visiting his fund raising page by clicking here or by e-mailing us with your pledge.
