At the beginning of July, one of our directors, Jon Slater, is going to the heart of the South Pacific to the ‘home of happiness’ that is Fiji. Despite the slogan, Fiji remains a developing and predominantly impoverished country.
Jon will spend five weeks there doing voluntary work with children, coaching sport, using his experience of many years coaching rugby and cricket to junior teams in Wharfedale.
He will live with a host family and immerse himself in Fijian life and culture. The work is being arranged by ‘Projects Abroad’ which offers the chance for those wishing to help benefit those less fortunate in all parts of the world and is something as a company we hope to become more involved with over the coming years.
As for his work responsibilities here, Jon says, ‘Its fantastic being able to do this knowing that my colleagues at Manse Capital can answer any client queries and maintain service levels during my absence. Before July I’m making sure all my client reviews due in that month are brought forward or for those that prefer, deferred until August’
We think that it’s just fantastic and we wish him well on his journey. Anyone thinking of similar adventures can find out about them here.
