After an extremely close voting poll, our first team event of 2018 was decided; a day caving at White Scar Cave, followed by a little healthy competition at Bentham Golf Club with the Yorkshire Dales Guides.
Our day began with a team bus out into the Dales, but thankfully we were sheltered from the wild wind as we delved deep into the longest show cave in Britain. Our guide took the team down the wonderful windy path, through The Squeeze, past mini waterfalls and crouching under the natural rock, to view the stalagmites and stalactites in their natural habitat forming slowly in the cave. With a few hard hat bumps and wet wellies, we completed the 1 mile tour and headed across to Bentham Golf Club.
After delicious lunchtime buffet refreshments, the team were then split into 6 teams to compete in a variety of tasks including taking a swing at the golf driving range, cracking the code to diffuse the bomb and tangram shape puzzles. It was a competitive afternoon with single points between the final scores at the end, but there had to be one winning team.
In summary, another enjoyable team event welcoming our new recruits and encouraging cross departmental communication as we continue to grow even bigger this year.
